Between a Rock and a Soft Place |
Between a Rock and a Soft Place is a collection of short fiction, poetry, and creative non-fiction. "The stories are historical and contemporary, and occasionally startling. The poems are self-affirming, sassy, and slyly humorous. The expository writing is clear-eyed, factual, and challenging. What an unusual book! It is to be savored." Penny Mickelbury, 2020 |

OUR HAPPY HOURS,
|
The early hours of June 12, 2016 brought spirit-numbing news from Orlando, Florida's Pulse Nightclub. The cries of grief, anger, and fear echoed across the globe as the victims' loved ones as well as every LGBT person who ever patronized a gay bar/club struggled to deal with the tragic reminder of our vulnerability. Some of us in the writers' community drifted to a place of introspection. In time many of us emerged from our silence. We returned with our hearts, minds, and fists filled with poetry, fiction, and creative non-fiction. In this book we offer you our words as well as an invitation to spend a few happy hours communing with us in our gay bars. [In the spirit of giving forward, all royalties from the sales of this anthology will be donated to The Attic Youth Center in Philadelphia and the Ali Forney Organization in New York City.] WINNER OF THE GOLDEN CROWN LITERARY SOCIETY'S |
